Panoz steering ...

I drove 2001 panoz esperante recently, and i found the steering to be soft, meaning it had 2 to 3 inches of play before it actually turned the front wheels ... Is this typical for the esperante ?

I have driven some rental sedans that have that much play in steering, but never a vehicle I considered a sports car ...

No this is not normal, the Esperante does not have the worlds greatest turning radius but the steering on my first as well as my second Esperante are very tight.
