  • New Esperante?

I saw some posts implying that there may be a new esperante coming out. I know about the abruzzi but was wondering what the likelihood of a new esperante is.

I called the Panoz plant and asked about a new Esperante. They indicated that their manufacturing effort was absorbed with the Abruzzi for the next few years...I wouldn't expect a new street-legal Panoz for a while.

You do understand that the factory is not very big and I think they can only produce one model at a time. To date they have not made more than one specific model (unless you consider the race GTS version a different car) at any one time.

I think they'd build a new esperante now if it was economically feasible. They've been out of the game for the last few years and may have to recertify which is not cheap. Although the Esperante was expensive they probably lost money on it. It's a great car with a very high build quality. The numbers just don't work based on their sales. If they have the Abruzzi they can race which is what they really want to do at this point. I'm not sure we'll ever see another esperante.

Pete, has hit the nail on the head! Consider this If Don's gamble works and they sell all of the Abruzzi models, Panoz will be in the Black maybe for the first time, maybe in a long time... If this happens we may see another car we can buy. The problem is once you own a Panoz you get hooked. Unfortunately there are only about 1000 disciples out there that can keep the brand alive. So if the race car does well, the Abruzzi will too. As far as the US goes we may be waiting a long time. 3rd time is a charm.
